Panama Treasures

So the reason I haven't posted in a while is because I have been in Panama!!  Jason and I went for 7 days.  We spent 3 days in Panama City and 4 in Buena Ventura along the coast.

Beautiful woven bedspread as displayed by my lovely assistants Kiki and Barnaby
This is a mini Dragon in the same style as many masks that we brought back for my brother

Beautiful hand beaded necklace made by the local Kuna women who are part of the local indigenous Indian tribe.
Local Kuna woman at one of the craft markets in Panama City.  She was kind enough to let me take her picture.  They have GREAT outfits.  Everything they wear means something, has a purpose, but they don't tell anyone outside of the tribe what the meanings are.

This is a hand beaded bracelet (also by the Kuna women) that I brought back for my sister.

This is a bowl that we brought back for my mom.  The Embera Indians weave baskets.  They can take anywhere from a week to a month to complete.  They are made with local foliage and dyes.

This is a beautiful hand woven scarf.  I plan to use it as a belt as well and if I can make a decent looking turban out of it, that as well.

This is a fantastic hand carved cane we brought back for my dad.  We bought it from a Kuna women so I would assume it was made by the Kuna people but don't know for sure.

This is another Embera Indian bowl we brought back for Jason's mom.  The colors are really amazing for all natural dyes.  Such intense colors!
