Buffalo exchange here I come!

I cleaned out my closet earlier this year and took my edits to Beacons Closet on Brooklyn. They took some but not all of my things but I was pleased with the money I got. Now I still find myself going through my closet with nothing to wear! So I decided to take a second look. A lot of the things I was holding onto were left over from my office days. Dress pants and shirts etc. Some things - like blazers - I have successfully converted into my freelance wardrobe but I am never going to wear the black dress pants that I didn't wear while I was working in the office! I know better, I dressed people for a living. But the million closet must have articles that I have read since the ago if 15 all distill that black dress pants are a MUST and I guess it was deep ingrained in my brain. There were a lot of other pieces I kept because I thought this is something that will come back, good quality. Then I realize it's from H & M. If it comes back I'll buy a new one. It's sort liberating to get ride of all these things I felt were so necessary but never wore. I like to think of this process - which has been going on for several days and included a cosmetics makeover, but that's another story - my adult makeover. I have decided to but pieces that are if higher quality and build a look I like rather than just buying things I like that don't really work well together. A true wardrobe if you will. It's about time! As I have now collected 5 bags of shoes and clothes (more to come!) I am realizing that I wear about 10% of what is actually in my closet! How sick is that? The man was right all along, but I'll never admit to that. Ever. So right now Monday is the big purge day. As long as I don't have to work I will be taking a large suitcase over to the new Exchange in Chelsea to take the next step in becoming an adult. At least in the wardrobe department:)
