My New Face

So as it happens my face powder is running out so a trip to Sephora is in order. I thought about just getting another powder compact - I have been using Tarte - but then I thought that I'm not completely happy with my coverage so I decided I would try something else but didn't know what yet. As I was pondering this I was lucky enough to go to the MAC Pro store on 23rd and met the most beautiful woman with flawless skin and a platinum jagged bob - hmmmm potential?? She was wearing mascara, the perfect shade it matte red lipstick and light, warm blush with a slight bronzed tone. First I just asked about the lipstick and how she kept it from bleeding. So I purchased the MAC lip primer AND the retro matte ruby lipstick. The first time I wore it I out it on at 9am. It made it through 2 burgers (I know wrong on so many levels in one day) and when I got home at 9 that night it was still on and the line was softer but not bleeding - I did reapply the red after breakfast. AMAZING!! I have slowly been converting from drug store makeup to Sephora - I know they say that they are the same but I think Sephora is better. And since I already made that move MAC wasn't that much more so I decided to try their facemakeup. I went to the store in Macy's on 34th street. Normally I avoid that store and area like the plague but I had an appointment in the area and time to kill. I hopped over to the sales counter and started reading up on the products which didn't help much. Then a lovely girl from Arkansas came over and asked if I needed help. Yes please. She went over powder vs liquid etc and I explained I'm a powder girl and have never been fan of the liquid plus I don't want to feel like I'm wearing anything. She said that liquid was the best way to go and the only way to yet the look I saw in the pro store so I said why not. So I plopped in the chair and had my face down. The liquid was weird and still required a powder to set it. But after I looked in the mirror I was sold! It was flawless, even toned skin that looked natural!! I was totally stoked and excited at my find. I love how it looks. It does stink that now my makeup gets on my phone and I have to be more careful with clothing around my face but it is so worth the payoff. I look in the mirror and feel so much prettier. I don't even need to do my eyes. I got my hair cut today and normally avoid looking in the mirror too much. I have always thought I was a decent looking broad but nothing to stair at. I couldn't take my eyes off my face. It was glorious. The even tone made me feel so perfect to look at. Like a magazine ad. The extra confidence is enough to carry me through the still fairly frequent trips in my new wedges - it takes a few wears to get use to a 4 inch lift. Anyway, if you are up for a change and an instant ego boost I highly recommend trying the full face.

PS if you are lazy like me and sometimes leave your eye makeup on over night just in case you don't have time to re-do it the next morning QUIT IT!!! My Mac girl says that causes wrinkles which would undo all of the preventative anti-wrinkle products I have been using since the age of 15. Who knew? I guess being lazy always gets you in the end.
